Hailing from Cuba, Yanet Fuentes began her journey
in dance as a gymnastics student, following in her parents'
footsteps as sportspeople. However she soon realised
that her heart lay in dancing. She then spent seven
years at the National School of Art & Dance in Havana.
Since
coming to the UK, Yanet has worked in many different
jobs. Some of these include: two West End musicals,
TV appearances (on The Generation Game, This Morning,
and The Paul O'Grady Show), starring in music videos
for Alicia Keys, Craig David, ABS and Tinchy Stryder
and N'Dubz, as well as appearing in TV commercials for
Sanex, Nokia and Atec. She is a three-time Tropicana
World Open Salsa Champion and travels the world teaching
and performing her own Latin dance shows. Yanet was
convinced by a couple of friends to audition for SYTYCD
and after some pushing, came to believe it would be
a great experience for her as a dancer.
Originally from Maryland, Mandy Montanez moved
to the UK eight years ago after meeting her husband
when she was dancing on a cruise ship. Her work has
included dancing in the recent run of X Factor live
shows and the 2007 series, plus being one of the lead
dancers in Cheryl Cole's current music video "3
Words". She
loves teaching and has a passion for working with talented
young dancers – something she does regularly in
the Ukraine and Russia where she works as a tutor in
the "Drive Dance Project" which involves teaching
Eastern European celebrities to dance. Mandy heard about
the competition in February and, hoping it would come
to the UK, got herself back into class and became focused
on becoming a contender for Britain's favourite dancer.

 Our
new Monday SALSA & KIZOMBA night is finally here at
one of the Midlands best loved salsa venues, The Sports
Cafe on Broad St (B'ham). Fortnightly we have our special
guests MIGUEL MONTEIRO & TEAM teaching 2 levels
of KIZOMBA from 8-9pm, plus 3 levels of SALSA classes
from 9pm with Chris, Don Walters & Gary Thomas.
The Kizomba class is now so big that we have introduced
a separate Kizomba beginners level, also at 8pm for our
next session on Monday 15th Feb. In addition to
that, we've also organised
for a higher level Kizomba class to take place between
7-8pm (by appointment only). If you're interested on joining
this class in the future, please let us know at our next
session. If you haven't tried it yet, and still want to
have a go, just turn up and join in at 8pm. On the alternative
weeks we are running our first regular Ladies styling
classes with Loreta Juzenaite (also fortnightly).
From 10pm it's party time, and it's officially SALSA &
KIZOMBA every Monday til 11:30pm.

Oswald (aka Ozy Shyne), of Haitian origin, created
Deuce in 1996 and has been the choreographer since then.
For several years Oswald has trained many talented
dancers in hip-hop and worked with some of the biggest artists
all over the world through his different experiences as a professional
dancer. In 2001, he was crowned World Champion
in Street Dance. Since then, he is widely globally within the
Hip Hop scene: he has danced in several musicals and French television
programmes including "Gone With the Wind", "The
10 Commandments", "Star Academy", and also alongside
international stars including Eminem, Destiny's Child, Jay Z,
and many other artists music videos and on stage. In
2002, he realized his childhood dream of starring in a movie,
directed by Blanca Li "Le Defi", enabling him to express
his talents as a dancer and an actor. Following this experience,
he was contacted by Marc Jolivet and offered the main role in
a French TV movie "Concours de dance a Piriac.
He discovered Salsa in the same year and feels
he has a real connection and passion for this dance. Today, Ozy
is one of the rising stars of Salsa and he still continues his
hip-hop career doing workshops and being invited to many different
projects around the world. With Deuce, the
Salsa scene was exposed to a musical and artistic diversity marked
by an urban style. Since 2005, Ozy’s choreographies reflect
the variety of dance styles learned during his career: hip hop,
jazz, contemporary, African, Zouk, dance-hall, mambo and on1 and
on2, cha cha cha Etc… Deuce, with Ozy,
continue to attend various European congresses to present its
different shows: The Crash, Heaven, El Pintor, Yelele and Darkness
- a beautiful cha cha cha show danced solo, or as a partner work,
where technique and fluidity mix with elegance. Each show will
take you into a different universe.
Elena has over 18 years experience in Classical ballet,
4 years of Mambo Salsa, 7 years experience contemporary dance,
jazz and pas de deux. Her education in dance started at the age
of six at the Arabesque school of dance teaching the Royal Academy
of Dance method in Italy. Graduating in May 2004 with a degree
in classical ballet. She has been dancing with Associazione Balletto
Classico (ABC) for over two years, performing Coppellia around
Italy, Europe and Canada, which gave me experience and wealth
of knowledge in dance and working with a professional production
team and artists. Throughout her dance career she has won many
awards, and taught other dance students specific dance techniques
to increase their dance too.
