It was voted TOP UK SALSA LIVE ACT & TOP UK SALSA SPECIAL EVENT of 2009 (UK salsa awards), and we're hoping to do it all over again this year. It all kicks off at 8pm this Saturday with our massive *LIVE* SUMMER SPECIAL on @ the COLLIERY CLUB on SATURDAY 31st JULY.. THE BIG ONE!! Yes, the MIDLANDS SALSA SPECIAL @ The Colliery Club is back this weekend and we've got special guest teacher LEE HUNTER (absolutesalsa, Derby), guest DJ DrSALSA (Leeds) and TOP 8-piece *LIVE* SALSA ENSEMBLE **RUMBEROS ALL-STARS**!!!! It's not often we can put together such a great line-up, but it's totally set up as a real treat for our local & regular visiting salseros. I hope everybody can make it. Enjoy!

Lee Hunter will be teaching his speciality CHA CHA CHA workshop from 8pm, followed by the 4 levels of Salsa classes with Tracey, Julian Atkins & Nikki, Jose Perez, Gary Thomas & Jayne, and then, get ready for some great tunes with resident DJs and guest DJ DrSalsa, plus the LIVE set by the band RUMBEROS ALL-STARS. If you still have not been (where have you been?!?!?), this venue & team is absolute perfect for a BIG salsa night, regularly attracting dancers from all corners of the UK and even abroad. The Rumberos Allstars will be playing a repetoire of music from the Fania Records catalogue and it's subsidiary labels....the music of Tito Puente, Willie Colon, Hector Lavoe, Fania Allstars, Ray Barretto and Eddie Palmieri. The band features 3 musicians from the La Clave/Grupo X family (Jonny Enright, Jim Le Messurier, Mark Donlon), who have backed such salsa/latin music stars as Tito Allen (Fania Allstars), Jimmy Bosch, Joe Bataan (Salsoul Records), Orlando Watussi (Fania Records) and Frankie Morales (Tito Puente Orquesta). Other musicians including former members of the Casa Latina Allstars (Sam Bell, Simon Pugsley) and La Gran Descarga (Matt Owens/Ricky Weedon). Lead vocalist is Cuban sonero Gilberto “Kiki” Sire from Matanzas who has worked with all the North’s main Cuban and salsa groups – Omar Puente Band, Mojito, Bourbon y Tequila, Conjunto Salsonito, Charanga Del Norte.....expect Latino anthems such as Willie Colon’s “La Murga De Panama” alongside Eddie Palmieri’s guaganco “Muneca” and Tito Puent’s fiery mambo “Picadillo”.....salsa dura, guaguanco, mambo, cha cha cha! Viva Fania Records!
